JEDDAH. The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Jeddah held a Public Religious Gathering with Prof. Dr. H. Abdul Somad on Thursday, 15 January 2026, at the Residence of the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Jeddah. The event formed part of religious guidance activities and served as a moment of spiritual reflection in commemoration of Isra and Mi’raj of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The gathering was attended by thousands of Indonesian community members, including Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) and Indonesian nationals residing and working in Jeddah and surrounding areas.
In his sermon, Prof. Dr. H. Abdul Somad emphasized the values of faith, moral conduct, and the exemplary character of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as guidance for daily life, particularly for PMI and Indonesian nationals living abroad. He conveyed several key messages, including the importance of being grateful for all blessings, complying with local laws and regulations by upholding the principle “where one stands, there one must honor the rules”, developing the habit of saving as preparation for the future, and avoiding sinful behavior by maintaining good morals and conduct. These messages were intended to strengthen the spiritual resilience and moral compass of Indonesian citizens during their time in Saudi Arabia.
The event also featured an interactive question-and-answer session, allowing participants to engage directly and deepen their understanding of religious values as well as everyday challenges faced while living overseas.
KJRI Jeddah expressed its appreciation and gratitude to all participants, organizers, volunteers, and supporting parties for their contributions to the successful organization of the event. Through religious and spiritual guidance activities such as this, KJRI Jeddah remains committed to strengthening unity, moral resilience, and the well-being of the Indonesian community in Saudi Arabia.
