JEDDAH. Historic Jeddah (Al Balad) recorded more than four million visitors during the holy month of Ramadan this year. The visitors included citizens, residents, and tourists from inside and outside the Kingdom.
The high number of visitors shows the strong cultural and social activity in the area. It also strengthens Jeddah’s position as a global destination that mixes authenticity with renewal.
Al-Balad area was full of life throughout the month. Diverse events and programs were held across many sites. These combined cultural experiences with interactive activities, heritage performances, traditional markets, and local cuisine. Together, they created a complete and rich Ramadan experience for everyone.
Historic neighborhoods turned into lively spaces where cultural activities and social traditions came together. This created a special Ramadan atmosphere that clearly reflected the values of the community.
Cultural centers and museums played an important role by offering educational programs and workshops. These programs focused on Jeddah’s history, traditional crafts, and local products.
Markets and commercial facilities saw strong activity. Economic and cultural sides worked together to increase trade and support local products, helped by well-organized logistics.
Organizational efforts made the visit smooth and enjoyable. Improvements in infrastructure, easy movement around the area, and integrated services created a safe and efficient environment for all visitors.
This success highlights the continuous work led by the Ministry of Culture to revive Historic Jeddah, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Through high-quality programs, the Ministry aims to promote cultural tourism and support Saudi Vision 2030. The goal is to develop Historic Jeddah into a leading global cultural destination.
